Typical install: 60–90 minutes for a standard swap — longer if we are pulling a new C-wire.

What We Do

What is included in the install

Every smart-thermostat install we run goes through the same five steps. No “basic” vs “premium” tier — the right install the first time.

Model compatibility check

System voltage (24 VAC), common-wire presence, and staging support — single-stage, two-stage, heat pump, and variable-speed equipment. We confirm a working match before we cut a wire, not after.

Mounting & location choice

Interior wall placement on an interior partition — away from direct sunlight, supply vents, exterior doors, and drafts. We also avoid the return-air / attic-plenum zone that throws off temperature readings.

C-wire handling

Pull a dedicated common wire when it is missing. If pulling is impractical, we install an approved add-a-wire kit at both ends and document the tradeoff. Power-stealing adapters are a temporary workaround — never the default.

Wi-Fi & mobile-app setup

2.4 GHz pairing (better range through walls than 5 GHz), account creation, schedule import, geofencing, and a runtime / humidity sanity check from the app before we leave the home.

Owner walkthrough

Live demo of schedule editing, hold / away modes, filter reminders, and seasonal staging presets. We leave the app and the stat set to your routine — not the factory defaults — and we hand you a written summary of what we changed.

Why It Matters Locally

Why a smart thermostat in SE Louisiana, specifically

The energy savings calc on a national site ignores Louisiana's humidity profile and shoulder-season runtime. We tune for these conditions on every install.

SE Louisiana humidity

In Baton Rouge and the NOLA metro, a 78°F setpoint with longer steady runtime does more for comfort than an aggressive 70°F setback that forces a recovery cycle that wicks moisture back into the envelope. A smart stat lets the system do that automatically — and exposes the humidity / runtime data so you can see it.

Peak-summer staging

A two-stage or variable-speed compressor that gets held at a stable setpoint runs more hours at low stage than a single-stage system bouncing between full-blast and off. That is more comfort per kWh in July and August — and it is exactly where a smart stat earns its keep over a manual one.

Off-peak runtime & shoulder season

Pre-cooling the home before the 4pm rate spike, easing back when you leave for work, and riding a milder shoulder-season setpoint without re-tuning the schedule every week — these are the alignment a smart stat gives you that a manual stat cannot.
